Toni Kroos ,born on January 4, 1990, is a German professional footballer who played as a midfielder for Real Madrid , a club oif spanish league La Liga, and the Germany national team. He is conisdered as one of the greatest midfielders of all time and has been known for his passing, creativity, crossing and set-piece ability. Kroos plays mainly as a central midfielder, but has also been deployed as a deep-lying playmaker in his career. With 34 titles won, Kroos is one of the most successful German football player of all time.
Club Career ( Bayern to Real Madrid):
At the begnning of his career, Tony Kroos first played for local club Greifswalder SC,and then he was transferred to the youth team of Hansa Rostock.Tony Kroos moved to Bayern Munich’s youth setup back in 2006.
Kroos Had missed up to 40 days during the school year due to training.
At the age of 17, Tony Kroos made it to Bayern’s senior team for the 2007–08 season . He made an amazing start to his Bundesliga ( German League) career, making his debut for Bayern on 26 September 2007 in a 5–0 defeat of Energie Cottbus and twice assisting Miroslav Klose goals within 18 minutes of his appearance as a substitute. Tony Kroos was the youngest player ever to represent Bayern in a professional match at 17 years, a record since broken by David Alaba in 2010. On 25 October, Kroos earned Bayern a valuable victory away to Red Star Belgrade on his UEFA Cup debut, coming on as a substitute in the 81st minute and providing an assist for Miroslav Klose and then scoring the winning goal, his first for the club, in stoppage time. He also scored three goals in 12 appearances for Bayern Munich II in the Regionalliga Süd.[citation needed. . On 5 November 2008, however, he made his UEFA Champions League debut as a 79th-minute substitute against Fiorentina in matchday four of the group stage.
In 2010, after the expiration of his loan at
Bayer Leverkusen,Tony Kroos returned to Bayern Munich. On 29 October 2010, he scored his first league goal for the club, in a 4–1 win against SC Freiburg. During the 2010–11 season, Kroos was a regular starter for Bayern in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League. He ended the season with 37 appearances in all competitions.[citation needed]
During 2011–12, under the coaching of Jupp Heynckes, who was his former coach at Leverkusen, Kroos made himself as the best choice as midfilder for the club, forming a strong midfield partnership with Bastian Schweinsteiger (Player from his national team). Tony Kross played 51 matches during the season (In all Competition), including the 2012 UEFA Champions League Final, where Bayern were beaten on penalties by Chelsea.
Tony Kroos was an important member of Bayern team during the 2012–13 season.. With Schweinsteiger and Javi Martínez in his midfield, Kroos was the most forward player and scored three goals in the team’s first four Bundesliga games. In Bayern’s opening group game against Valencia, he also scored his first goal in the Champions League. Following an injury sustained during the first leg of Bayern’s Champions League quarterfinal match against Juventus, Kroos was sidelined for the rest of the season, missing Bayern’s victories in the 2013 DFB-Pokal Final, the 2013 UEFA Champions League Final, and the final seven Bundesliga games.
After recovering from injury, Tony Kross participated in the UEFA Super Cup and the German Super Cup once his injury healed. scored his first goal of the season on October 4, 2013, in a 1-1 Bundesliga draw with his old team, Bayer Leverkusen. In the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup, he started two games for Bayern; the first was a 3–0 victory over Guangzhou Evergrande on December 17, 2013, in the semifinals, and a 2–0 victory against Raja Casablanca in the championship. Kroos scored his second goal of the year on February 19, 2014, as the team defeated Arsenal 2-0 in the Champions League. He scored on March 25, the day Bayern was officially crowned the Bundesliga champions with a 3-1 victory over Hertha BSC.
Tony Kroos had an agreement with David Moyes to join Manchester United, but he later decided to join Real Madrid. But the Dutch manager chose not to sign Kroos when Moyes was fired and Louis van Gaal took over. He got a call from Carlo Ancelotti right before the 2014 World Cup.
On 17 July 2014, Real Madrid, a team in La Liga in Spain, declared that they and Kroos had come to a deal for the player’s transfer, with a six-year contract and no financial details provided. According to the news, Kroos spent anything from €24 million to €30 million.The transfer netted Greifswalder SV 04, his original youth team’s replacement, €60,000.
Kroos became one the ninth German player,which include Mesut Özil, and Sami Khedira as well, to join Real Madrid. In front of eight thousand fans, he declared during his presentation that Real Madrid is the “biggest club in the world”. On August 12, 2014, he participated in his first-ever UEFA Super Cup match against Sevilla, where he won his first trophy at Real Madrid.
Together with James Rodríguez and Luka Modrić, he formed a midfield combination that helped Real Madrid win 22 games towards the end of the season. On November 8, Kroos scored Real Madrid’s first goal in a 5-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano at home. He led the competition in assists and contributed to the team’s victory in the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup in December. He was selected for both the UEFA Team of the Year and the FIFA FIFPRO World 11.
On 20 May 2019, he extended his contract with the club until 2023.
At the Di Stefano Stadium in 2021, Kroos scored his first El Clásico goal against Barcelona with a free kick in the 28th minute. The victory propelled Los Blancos to the top of the league with a crucial 2-1 league victory. In just his sixth attempt, this was Kroos’ first goal for Real Madrid from a free kick. With two goals in twelve games, Kroos won his fifth UEFA Champions League championship in 2021–2022.
With one FIFA Club World Cup championship with Bayern Munich and five with Real Madrid, Kroos broke his own record on February 11, 2023. In the Copa del Rey final on May 6, he participated in the 2–1 victory over Osasuna, earning him his first-ever trophy in that competition. Kroos’s Real Madrid contract was extended on June 21, 2023, by one year, keeping him with the team until June 2024. In Madrid’s 3–2 comeback victory over Napoli on the road on October 3, Kroos made his 100th Champions League appearance for the team.
After the UEFA Euro 2024, Kroos declared on May 21, 2024, he would step down from playing club and international football. On May 25, he participated in his final La Liga match at the Santiago Bernabéu, a goalless draw against Real Betis. When he was replaced in the 86th minute, the entire stadium gave him a standing ovation.He played his final game for the team on June 1st. In the Champions League final, Real Madrid defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 and he scored his 300th goal for the team with a corner assist from Dani Carvajal.
